A book for little ones aged 4+

Written by Jess Sanders & Illustrated by Steph Spartels

This beautifully illustrated book addresses various forms of grief including the death of a loved one, family separation, the loss of friendships, and the loss of pets or favourite toys. It explains how grief can look and feel and provides strategies to help children build resilience and navigate big feelings.

For each hard cover copy purchased, Palliative Care Tasmania is able to provide 10 FREE soft cover copies of 'What is Grief' to Tasmanian families, schools and organsations.

‘What Is Grief'?’ was written by Manager of Grief and Loss Programs and social worker, Jess Sanders as a part of the Learning Through Loss program. Learning Through Loss’s mission is to create grief-literate communities, and the program does this by offering free resources and grief literacy education to professionals and volunteers who work with children and young people. The program works to prevent the harm that is caused when grief is unseen and unsupported.

'What is Grief' is also available as an e-book and free print download from the Learning Through Loss website https://learningthroughloss.org.au/resources/
